Someone brought one to a fourth of July shindig; that’s when I became obsessed with them. This was the first time I had an excuse to spend that much money on a ham. (Labor Day. Forget the fact that we aren’t doing anything. BUT by George, we are gonna have ham!)

Hi guys! I messed up the other day when I said we were going to see Wicked on Saturday. It’s actually tonight! We’re leaving at 3pm and won’t be back until about midnight, so I’ve got BB set to record at my mom’s.
I want to picnic! I could bring deviled eggs and french bread – 2 things I’m famous for!

Oh, Tina, that temp sounds delightful. It’s cooler here, but not that cool. I forgot about that broccoli cornbread. I need to keep a notepad with me at all times. I forget everything. geesh.
Hi Jodda, the cool temps have been nice this morning. Was able to turn a/c off last night, and my small kitchen handled the heat real well when I made the cornbread and granola.
I know what you mean about the Dish. I luv to read the transcriptions of Lessa, Carolyn and Genie, but posting seems to take forever . I tried it a couple of times but came back here. Like you, just wish some others had stayed here too. I just started posting last summer, but it’s been fun interacting with the small group here.
The housequests are still sleeping and I’m going to get cleaned up for the day. TTYL

I really wish this weren’t true about the feeds being blocked out for the endurance. And I don’t understand the logic.
I’ve wanted a good endurance competition all season. Last year was the log roll one, which was pretty good, minus the “cheating” that Natalie did
And remember the one with Dan, Memphis, and Jerry? What did that last? 45 seconds? lol.

I FINALLY get to try this tomorrow. I was too low on coconut oil (I know I didn’t need that, but really wanted to use it). I ordered some, and it will be here tomorrow. Can’t wait to try it.

Jodda, the log comp wth Natalie was pretty good, and the one with Dan, Memphis and Jerry sucked. I would luv to see one like Dick and Danielle competed in. That was fun
I like Lane because he is the most gentlmanly of the group; that southern charm is there for him. But he does not need the money. Hayden could really use the money, I think. Although most of these people don’t seem to have meaningful employment except for Andrew, Rachel and Matt. EVen Enzo talks about his wife carrying most of the load financially. He’s been hit by the economy. Lane appears to be lazy and his family keeps him up. Britney does not have a job either anymore. She had to get her parents to help her with her car payment. And to listen to Hayden, he had not had meaningful employment in 5 years.
I think they are counting on this show getting them ahead with financial opportunities
Oh Jodda. I luv pineapple. That’s one of the fruits I cut up in our morning fruit along with strawberries, blueberries, grapes, peaches, and cantelouppe. That’s coming to an end soon now. I won’t be able to find these at a good price and will switch to Calif. oranges and Florida Indian River grapefruit.
I hope Sasssy will tell us about about her trip to San Francisco. I have not been there since I was 19. That was 46 years ago
BBdish says “Endurance” starts at 5:40pm BB time tomorrow. If it runs into BBAD wonder if we get to see it then. If so, the feeds should carry it too. Wouldn’t you think
well at the rate the competitions have been running this season, I look for the endurance comp to be ove at 5:41.
Britney will still have an audience there, but it won’t be on TV until the next day
BBAD will probably do what they did in 9 and just record 3 hours early in the day and show those.

I don’t care. If it were me, and I made the decision to continue my career in BB as a guest on talk shows, by gummy, I’d keep current on the season of which i was being asked questions….

Running back & forth from office to lr to watch AGT final 10. My favorite Anna & Patrick 12 year old ballroom dancers just performed. She fell down the entrance steps at the beginning of the dance, but it did not throw her off. She performed to perfection. What a professional for 12 years of age. Kinda what I said to CBS. I’ll find other things to watch if they lost me as a fan over their shannigans

I think they will get into the final 4 Billy. The judges think their act will really go over well in Las Vegas. I do too. The magician is good too.

Marc is digging trench around our house tryng to keep water out of house (he couldn’t get to work, roads too bad, and some closed from flooding and/or accidents). We don’t have flood insurance. I have a sick feeling we are going to need it. My nerves are fried right now.
There was a rumor that there was a fight between Rachel and Ragan at the jury house and the police were called, but no one knows if that’s real or not.

wow. People are acutally using boats on the streets to get to trapped cars. I was joking about it yesterday, I didn’t imagine they would be needed.
And some parts of interstates are being closed. So far no flooding in our house. We’ve had 7-8 inches in my town, and it’s not over.

My goodness Jodda. This is the first time today I’ve been on the computer. It’s the weekend for us and we have been out and about. When getting dressed, I had the weather channel on and they were describing in detail all the flooding in Texas around Ft. Worth and Dallas and naming some of the rivers that were over flowing. As well as in other parts of your state. I hope your family is ok. Surely civil defense will evacuate your area if it’s needed . Keep us posted. Wish I could help. lol

Hey Tina. The rain has stopped for now, thank God. It’s been pretty awful. Images of people nearby being rescued from their roofs, cars stuck. I’m so grateful, because very very close to where I live, it is hip level in some areas. over 10 inches now here. If we have waterdamage to our flooring, it is nothing like some people. The fire departments and volunteers are the ones evacuating people and helping them out of their homes. It;s nuts.
Maddy’s school is next to a creek, and the flooding was bad, really bad. All roads closed around it. They were bussed out this morning to a nearby church. (pardon the cussing, I was a wee bit nervous when I heard about hers shool. But I saw about her school was evacuated on the TV first, as I was typing that post. (why on earth it took her school that long to get an email out I don’t know) and I didn’t exactly know what route I was going to take to get there. I’ve never driven in anything like it. My anxiety level all day has been way too high. I’m still shaky for heavens sake.

We are fine here. Just really tired and stressed. But all is fine. It looks like no water got in the house. (fingers crossed. we are keeping an eye on places where it has in the past. ) and knock on wood, our power didnt go out.
I feel so bad for a lot of people around here. Then to top off with 3 tornadoes in the area tonight. Makes one feel grateful to not be in their shoes
Poor Maddy, the whole emergency evacuating at school rattled her. I guess the water rose so very fast, and a lot of the adults were freaking out in front of the kids. And talking about how they didn’t know how the buses were going to be able to get thru the flooded streets. Now she’s afraid we are going to be flooded during the night while we are asleep.
Anywho,
I did see the last half of the show. I do wish we could have seen that endurance. Watch this one last hours and hours.

At least I’m comfy, in bed, laptop here, heating pad, and a cat on my head.
(always within 10 seconds of laying down, my lardo cat hops up, starts kneading dough, very vigorously, on my pillow, makes two circles and plops down, to wrap around the top of my head. Gets very hot. I have no idea what appeals to him to sleep around a human head, but it does. Turban kitty.

Watch the feeds come back and they don’t talk about the comp at all. Better yet, they’re asleep… The way this season is going, I wouldn’t doubt it.

Of course I’ll tell you about my trip to San Francisco! You couldn’t STOP me! But it was really more of a trip just to see Wicked, because we didn’t go anywhere else or do anything else… I don’t really have a life, I always live vicariously through other people, so feel free! Oh, some background info: Remember recently when I told you that I went on a buying trip with my mom to San Francisco for her shop? Well, we stayed in a hotel right across the street from the Orpheum, so when we walked outside I said, “Oh! Wicked is playing there!” I’m sure she’d never heard of it, but I told her how popular it is and how much I wanted to see it. Then last time she was in Reno, one of the casino managers was telling her how his son is in that play in San Francisco. So somehow that prompted her to call and see if I wanted to go see it. Ummm, YEAH! Okay first of all, we drove down to my mom’s in Sacramento on Friday after school to meet up with my ex who took Mini Sasssy camping through Monday. My 23-year-old son ended up not being able to go camping as he had too much homework and has been sick. San Francisco is 2 hours southwest of Sacramento. Wicked was at the Orpheum Theatre (beautiful, old, intricately carved theatre) where it originally premiered! I wore black capri pants with a line of rhinestones down each sideseam and a black 3/4 sleeve top with silver embroidery and rhinestones here and there in the design. It’s a specific style of top, but I have no idea what it’s called. Maybe from India? My mom wore a white skirt with a red top and jacket and my 25-year-old son wore his usual cargo pants and polo shirt. I found out when we got there that we had VIP tickets which gave us access to the VIP lounge an hour before the show and included 2 drinks. I’ve always wanted to see Wicked too, and it was sooo good… and hilarious! It even had some of the Broadway people in it. I’ve worked on a ton of plays, so I’m kinda familiar with how things go. After the play, the director came on stage and said to bear with him as he thanked everyone, so I turned to my mom and asked in astonishment, “Was that the LAST performance???” She said it was. I couldn’t believe she hadn’t shared that info. Turns out when she called to get tickets, they only had 3 tickets left for the very last performance, so we very nearly missed seeing it entirely!
Sasssy, we’ve missed you. Your trip sounds like it was a big success. Did the casino manager’s son get the VIP tickets for yall? What good luck yall had. Your outfit sounds exquisite too. I’m wearing black capri pants too when we go to SYTYCD and “Nine to Five” Your description of the Orpheum sounds like the Fox where we are going in midtown Atlanta. It was built in the early 1900′s for live performances. It later became a movie theater. Back in the 60′s it was restored to it’s original beauty and is now used for mostly plays and musicals. We also go to a similar one in Chattanooga to events called The Tivoli
Wooooowww Sasssy, I love when things like that happen. When things fall perfectly into place, serendipitous things. It makes me think it was meant to be. Kind of gives me goosebumps, being that it was last 3 tickets of the last performanc, of a show you always wanted to see , tickets obtained only cuz u happened to shop and stay at hotel and saw sign. And vip tickets to boot. You couldn’t duplicate that if u triedd. Kwim? Kind of divine intervention. Love it.
I enjoyeed readig what you all wore. I love dressing up for things like that. I so rarely d anymore.
I have 2 aunts. one used to live in sacramento, the other in Farfield (about 40 minutes from the city). Now they both live in Fairfield. I want to go soon. I miss that area.
I’m so glad you had a good time. You deserve to have some fun! You have inspired me to check what is going to be running here. Between dallas and ft worth, there’s soo much. And we neever go. But I love musicals.
No, my mom just called the box office to get the tickets and that’s what they had left. They say $200 on them. I asked my mom, “You didn’t pay that, did you???” She said she didn’t as they were discounted for last minute, but I’ve never known her to be honest.

Wait, I should rephrase that about my mom. I’ve only known her to be honest if it’s sure to hurt me. She doesn’t like me much, and she makes that painfully clear in what she says and does. Although she acts like she doesn’t know what I’m talking about when I call her on it. Yes, she takes me places and buys me things, but free things are often so costly.

Sasssy, I checked the schedule. The closet to me is Memphis Tenn. Oct 13-31. We leave for Jamaica on the 18th and won’t be back until the 31st. It’s not going to be a good time for us as we will be in Atlanta Sept. 27-29 for the events there. It’s just too close to these activities for us. Sasssy, we like to go on snorkeling trips and to plays, mucsical, venues, etc. for vacations. This year I found a placein Jamaica where we can snorkel right off the property.

Hi guys! I’ve been so exhausted since my trip to Sac and SF last weekend, I’ve slept the week away! Good thing nothing’s happening in the house. So I wanna hear about all these pumpkin recipes… I’ve never made pumpkin bread, but she’d probably like that too. Do you use the canned pumpkin in your pumkin recipes, or what? And hey, I’m really wanting to try spaghetti squash… Anyone know how exactly to cook it? I remember hearing it looks just like spaghetti when cooked, and you just top it with your regular spaghetti sauce. But I can’t for the life of me remember how you’re supposed to cook it. I made biscuits and gravy this morning, since we had BLTs last night with my fresh farmer’s market tomatoes! Yum! I bought a whole bunch of tomatoes this time, because we’re gonna make fresh salsa. Wish me luck!
Sasssy, yes I do use canned pumpkin for the bread, I’ll e-mail you a copy of my recipe. A neighbor from many years ago who lived next to me when we lived on St Simons Island gave it to me. Hearing about your biscuits and gravy and Blt’s have made me hungary. I’m going to get the cut up canteloupe I made for my snack and eat it. We had biscuits from the freezer, that I make ahead, and homemade blackberry preserves from a batch I put up this summer with scrambled eggs and grits for lunch.
I have never done the spaghetti squash. I think you cook it. Then take a fork and scrape the meat out. It is suppose to come out in strands like spaghetti noodles. Maybe Jodda has done it before.

I posted some pics on FB late today. Looked out the front door for Miss Kitty and saw geese in the yards and street in front of our house. Miss Kitty was not having any of it. Ran, got my camera and got some good shots. Later a few of the geese came back and Miss Kitty got in the middle of them. Noel took the camera to get some shots, but Miss Kitty saw him and came running. So we did not get a pic of her in the middle of the geese.Suprise, She was not bothering them, just watching them,

OH, and Sasssy, I’ll get together some pumpkin recipes. It’s usually canned pumpkin that I use. I “literally” keep about 10 cans of it in my pantry at all times. Sometimes I cook a pumpkin and use the flesh (if it’s for a soup).
I’ll have to see if I can find my muffin pan, where the muffins are in the shape of pumpkins, and you take two, and put them together, and they look like a pumpkin. ok, that makes no sense. I’ll try to find it.

Summer is way, way too busy for me. I like my down time while Mini Sasssy is in school. As I said before, last week I spent it sleeping. Just the fact I can makes me happy.
Plus I love to listen to my audio books, and while she loves to read, she doesn’t love to hear my audio books.

I just found another pumpkin recipe I use during the holidays It makes a dozen muffins. I make them ahead and pop in the freezer for an easy stress free breakfast when family is here It’s called Carrot Pumpkin Cheesecake Muffins. I’ll send this one too to Sasssy and Jodda. It is another easy one. I luv easy ones

I so love to make variations of muffins, and freeze them. When maddy was a lot younger, barely eating, I started and got in the habit of adding pumpkin or sweet potato to all my muffins for a while, for the fiber and Vit A . It must be when I started loving pumpkin in everything.
Fair warning:
I had about an hour and a half sleep, just got home from 9 hours of working at Maddy’s school…I’m asleep with my eyes open.. I’m even wordier than I normally am.
Anywho, that whole backhistory on my pumpkin love was just to say, “yay, pumpkin muffin recipe”…

Well, I actually would do better with the 10 year olds. I just help on Mondays. The three teachers in Maddy’s pods gather up things for their class that they need done. Some just copies, some doing some layout stuff and printing new classwork, some of this or that, and do stuff for them that the PTA needs them to have done.. I end up staying completely busy the entire time. I only ate half a sandwich. I don’t really know how, I guess because it’s for 3 teachers. I enjoy it though.
